Spirit and Matter

It is said that we die, but what dies, what ceases to be animated, is the body, not the spiritual being, who always lives.

By identifying the body with life, many have created the terrifying paradox of death: the last taboo of our age, the negative dogma that causes billions of individuals to suffer.

It seems that life gives vitality to the body as well, but it is the ātman that animates it.

A body is alive because life is present within it, but life is not an intrinsic quality of the body; that is to say, it is the presence of the pilot of the bodily vehicle.

It is not the soul that is within us: we are the soul, the experiencing subject, the vital spark that makes the body appear alive and active, when in fact it is simply a vehicle, an instrument at the disposal of the self. Substance, matter, is not at all opposed to spirit.

Spirit, as essence, and matter, as substance, are not two dichotomous realities, because their source is one and the same: God.
